This is a conversation with my Zen teacher Kakumyo recorded in October before I headed on a month long meditation, surf trip. He was helping me orient and prepare for the trip.
Kakumyo is a transmitted teacher in the Soto Zen tradition and currently the abbot of Dharma Rain Zen Center in Portland Oregon. He has practiced with Dharma rain since 1998, received transmission in 2012 and has been Abbot since 2019.
